- Three semesters before graduation carefully go through the Geography advising
checklist and plan for all Geography, College, and University required courses to
be completed.
- Go to the Eberly College of Arts and Sciences (ECAS) Undergraduate Records
Office (221 Armstrong Hall) the semester before graduating to
1) complete the application for graduation and
2) schedule an appointment with Rose Eavenson to check all ECAS and
WVU required courses.
- Apply for graduation and pay your graduation fee during the semester of your
graduation. To do this, pick up the ‘Application for Graduation and Diploma’
form at the Geology & Geography main office or the ECAS Records Office (293-
7476). Once you have applied for graduation, your name will be sent to the
department to verify the fulfilling of the Geography Program requirements. The
Director of the Geography Undergraduate Program will verify you have taken all
geography course requirements.
- The Department of Geology and Geography graduation ceremony is held morning
of the ECAS graduation in May in Room 202 Brooks Hall with a reception
afterwards in the concourse. The Department will send a formal invitation letter to
your home address inviting family and friends to the May graduation ceremony.
August graduates should inform the Department secretary of their plan to attend so
their names will appear in the program.
- If you wish to purchase caps and gowns, announcements, class rings, and more you
may do so at the WVU Bookstore. Visit the bookstore web site at
www.bkstore.com/wvu/. Suggested dress for the graduation ceremony is semiformal
(coat and tie for men). Cap and gown is optional for the Department
ceremony, however, they are required for those participating in the afternoon
Eberly College ceremony in the WVU Coliseum. A reception is usually held
immediately after the Coliseum ceremony in the Shell Building. There is no limit
to the number of guests you may bring to graduation. WVU has more information
at http://senioryear.experience.wvu.edu/graduation_checklist.
