Geology BS Candidates must fulfill all University and College Requirements

BS Degrees do not require a foreign language

Required Geology Courses (most have a laboratory and include one or more field trips)

• Geology 101 Planet Earth or Geology 110 Environmental Geoscience
• Geology 102 Planet Earth Lab or Geology 111 Environmental Geoscience Lab
• Geology 103 Earth through Time
• Geology 104 Earth through Time Lab
• Geology 284 Mineralogy
• Geology 285 Petrology
• Geology 321 Geomorphology
• Geology 331 Paleontology or Geology 454 Exploration Geophysics
• Geology 341 Structural Geology
• Geology 311 Stratigraphy and Sedimentation
• Geology 463 Physical Hydrogeology or Geology 462 Introductory Hydrogeology
• Geology 404 Geology Field Camp
• Plus upper division Geology Electives to add to 42 hours of Geology (may include Geol 200 if taken before Geol 341)

* Students planning to go to Graduate School should take Math 155 -156.

Before graduating with a B.S. degree in Geology each student will be asked to complete a geology assessment test on which he/she must achieve a score of at least 60% before graduating.  This is a part of the Geology Program's approved assessment process.
