Jacob is an interdisciplinary environmental scientist working at the nexus of science, policy, and practice to address climate change and other pressing sustainability challenges.

My research and teaching focus on the social, economic, and environmental dimensions of pressing sustainability challenges we face as a society. I have an interdisciplinary background spanning the natural and social sciences, and a professional background that bridges science, policy, and practice. Prior to joining WVU in 2023, I spent five years in Sweden as a research scientist at the Stockholm Resilience Centre and Uppsala University. I am currently working to develop action-research projects with community organizations around Appalachia to address energy transitions, environmental justice, and climate adaptation.
