Regional coal geology, geochemistry of coal mines, surface hydrology and hydrogeology of coal mines, geographic mapping and spatial analysis (GIS).
I have a passion for teaching and focus on integrating new technology and hands-on field components into the classroom. Focusing on hydrologic and geochemical systems of the Appalachian coal region, my research looks at macro and micro scale effects of past coal mining practices on the environment.
